This project helps teaching present and future educators to communicate successfully with students, families and communities and make connections to the required school curriculum (Schmidt & Finkbeiner, 2009).
The method used, called the ABC’s of Cultural Understanding and Communication, is a model for developing cultural competency (Schmidt & Finkbeiner, 2006; Schmidt, 1998; Finkbeiner, 2009; Finkbeiner & Koplin, 2002).

The Trans ABC’s is especially useful in multicultural societies. This programme assists teachers in becoming culturally responsive instructors using a method known as the ABC’s of Cultural Understanding and Communication.
